Camp Monarch

What will volunteer camp counselors be doing at camp?

Volunteers are the key to the success of a PWS camp!  We strive to have one volunteer camp counselor to each PWS camper.  As a camp counselor you will simply be responsible for helping your PWS buddy in getting to the next activity and helping them if needed.  In general, the PWS campers are very self-sufficient but may need some guard rails to feel safe during their time at camp.  You will be sleeping in the same cabin as your buddy, eating with them and participating in activities.  There will be down time built into the daily schedule, so don't worry about running out of gas by bed time.  The friendship and energy from your buddy will lift you up!

For more information on the camp itself, click here to go to the Camp Knutson website.

Lastly, don't worry if you have an issues or questions, we will have Camp Directors at the camp with expertise in PWS and there will be Camp Knutson staff available as well to help if needed.

Logistics and Schedule for Volunteers

Thank you for your interest in helping with PWS Camp Monarch!  You will find the experience enjoyable and rewarding!

Don't worry, all campers and volunteers will be staying in modern, air-conditioned cabins with bathrooms, showers and beds.  The items you need to bring are described in a section below.

All volunteers are required to secure their own travel to and from camp as there is no transportation to and from camp provided.   Volunteers should plan on arriving at camp by 9:00 am on Tuesday, September 15th for a PWS and camp training session prior to campers arriving.  Plan on departing camp between 2:30 and 3:00 pm on Thursday, after the campers have left.
